biography
Max Bill was a multitalented sculptor, architect, graphic artist, designer, art theorist and publicist. From 1927 to 1929 he studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau, where he was influenced by the de Stjil group. He advocated a comprehensive artistic shaping of our environment. Among other things, he developed loop sculptures from the Möbius strip, and in 1936 and 1951 he built the Swiss pavilions at the Triennials in Milan. From 1951 to 1956 Bill was director of the Ulm School of Design, whose buildings he built from 1953 to 1955.
