biography

At the beginning of the 1980s, those catchy, abstract symbols and comic-like figures appeared on the facades of buildings for the first time, which initially put the young Keith Haring on the police wanted list before Haring could go down in art history. Keith Haring, born in 1958, came to New York in 1978 after abandoning his studies in advertising graphics, where Haring enrolled at the School of Visual Art. In the East Village's attitude to life, its clubs, its rap and breakdance music, Keith Haring found a spiritual home that became the breeding ground for his graffiti. With a lot of energy, Keith Haring knew how to attract the attention of the art scene. Keith Haring quickly became a cult figure among New York's avant-gardists and culture enthusiasts. Haring consistently marketed his designs in his own shops, such as the "Pop Shop" in Manhattan. Keith Haring's figures soon adorned T-shirts, watches, shopping bags and buttons. Keith Haring died in New York in 1990 at the age of 31 from the effects of his AIDS disease.
