1941 born on April 25th in Liberec, Bohemia
1956-61 Studied at the Werkkunstschule Krefeld under Laurens Goosens.
Study stay at the Maria Laach monastery (crucifixion paintings); one year of work in underground coal mining; further studies in Krefeld and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy; work in road construction and stay in Paris. Has been working as a freelance artist since 1961.
1962 Moved to Berlin. Started dithyrambic painting.
1966 Publication of the manifesto: "The grace of the 20th century is made visible through the dithyramb."
1970 Villa Romana Prize, one-year stay in Florence
1971 Prize of the German Critics Association
1974 guest lecturer and since 1976 professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe
1977 Organisation of the 1st Berlin Biennale; mural for the Ruhleben crematorium in Berlin; withdrawal from participation in documenta 6 in Kassel
1981 Publication of the collection of poems "and I play, I play....."
1982 Participation in the documenta 7 in Kassel; stage design for the opera "Vincent" by Rainer Kunad at the Staatstheater Kassel; publication of the collection of poems "I stood in front of the wall of glass"
1983 Professorship at the Summer Academy in Salzburg; publication of the poetry collection "1961-1983, Selection"
1984 Stay in New York; publication of "Diary New York 1984"
