Collection: Shuby

biography

Shuby was born on January 7, 1971 in Ramsgate.

From 2006 onwards she established herself in the London street art scene through paste ups inspired by the singer and dancer Josephine Baker and the illustrator Martin Sharp. In her early creative phase, Busby Berkeley's film “The Gang's all here” had a significant influence on her work. The banana motif in particular has been part of her work since this phase.

She was then offered a studio by the Bow Arts Trust Fund in London, where she began making works in a studio environment and no longer just on the street. Her work is characterized above all by a particular diversity and influences from pop culture and advertising, as well as the film industry.

Nevertheless, Shuby never stops doing classic street art. Her works can be found on the streets of large cities such as New York, London, Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon and Sydney, but also in remote cities such as Bethlehem in Palestine.

Shuby lives and works mainly in St.-Leonards-on-Sea near Hastings, as well as in London.
